Just saw this today...I don't do laundry but my Roy does and we'll see how well it works...
Fabric sheet smell for less...
Wet a washcloth with a 1/3 cup of fabric softener (we use Gain Island Fresh..I had to go look :))
throw in the dryer with your clothes. On each load re-wet the washcloth, this should last for at least 4 more loads..hmmm....I'll let ya know...apparently we use the liquid AND the dryer sheets...didn't know that...
Just a tip:
Plastic wrap untangling tip...leave it in the freezer and it won't cling together when you tear it from the roll...I do this on my freezer days...works great!
Frugal recipe:
Save your potato peels!
After peeling your washed potatoes, pat dry and place in a heavy skillet with about a 1/4 inch of oil, let heat to at least 350 degrees and fry up in batches. Makes great homemade potato chips and you get all the extra fiber and vitamins from the skins, add salt after removing from the oil...enjoy...I like mine "xtra" crunchy...:)

Happy Monday!
Happy Monday Girlies!
Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your strength. The commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
Reflection:
In what ways do you (or could you) keep the truth of the Scripture more readily available and accessible to you throughout the day?
What have been some of the greatest benefits of memorizing Scripture? How has God used His internalized Word in both dramatic and everyday fashion?
Saul was 13 years old he was considered a son of the law. Like an adult Jew he assumed all the religious responsibilities. During his morning prayers he started wearing phylacteries, called tefillin, during weekday morning prayers. Phylacteries are made up of two black leather cubes with long leather straps. Each cube held certain passages from the Torah written on strips of parchment. Saul wore one of the cubes on his left are facing his heart. The other cube was placed in the center of his forehead. The leather straps on the left arm were wound precisely seven times around his arm.
Code of Jewish Law prescribed that a Jewish man 13 years or older was to put on the tefillin at the first moment in the morning when enough daylight was present to recognize a neighbor at a distance of four cubits. Perhaps these practices seem very strange to us but we should appreciate their attempt to interpret Scripture as literally as they knew how.
Exodus 13:9 says annual observance of the Feast of Unleavened Bread was to "serve as a sign for you on your hand and as a reminder on your froehead, so that the law of the Lord may be in your mouth." You can see that for the strict Jew, the phylacteries were a literal act of obedience.
The left arm was chosen because it was ordinarily the weaker. They were to wear God's Word as a banner and shield over their weakness. We don't practice the outward espression of the jew, but we are wise to share the inward principle.
Saul would have placed the phylacteries around his forehead and arm in total silence. If interrupted while putting on the phylacteries on any given morning, he would have started the procedure all over again, repeating the appropriate benedictions. You see girls...a 13 year old Hebrew boy could not even get up out of the bed in the morning without remembering who he belonged to. As he wound the straps of the phylacteries around his head and arm, he was reminded of his binding relationship to his Creator. Soberly he assumed the responsibility of the one associated with God. The Law of the Lord was his life.
This really made me think this morning. I haven't been waking up in the morning remembering who that I belong to. Do you girls? Shamefully, I get up in the morning and just try to make it to the coffee pot quietly so that I don't wake up the kids, my main concern is just gettin through the first hour of my day without having to speak to anyone...I am NOT a morning person...
How do we bind ourselves like Saul did? He wound the straps of the phylacteries around his head and arm, as a reminder of his binding relationship to his Creator. It was a deliberate conscious effort everyday...Since we have started our Bible in 90 days, I have felt like I have made a deliberate conscious effort, till now...as soon as I am done reading...I move on to the next "task" of the day...God is more than a "task" that needs to be read or completed.
Psalm 19:10- They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.
God's Word is more desirable to us than gold, sweeter than honey...even sweeter than honey from the comb! We will stay hungry for it! We will be faithful also to share it with others, with our children! God said, " Teach a youth about the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it" ( Proverbs 22:6).
Let's pray together this morning:
Heavenly Father, we love you Lord! You are sweeter than honey from the comb to us Lord. We hunger for you continually...help us Father to seek you first thing in our mornings. As soon as our eyes open Lord, let us remember to whom we belong. Help us to stay in your word and teach it to our children and help us to be faithful to share it with others also Lord. Watch over us this week, keep us safe and healthy Jesus...Your so precious to us Father that words don't have the capacity to explain the love we have for You...in Your Holy Name we pray...AMEN...

Frugal Friday!!
Chewy Granola Bars
4 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract
2/3 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup of honey (I use 3/4 cup)
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups miature semisweet chocolate chips
* You can add any combo of chips,( I am going to try PB chips next time), sunflower seeds, raisins, chopped dried fruits, M&M's,chopped nuts, etc.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Lightly greased a 9x13 inch pan.
In a large mixing bowl combine the oats, flour, baking soda, vanilla, butter, honey and brown sugar. Stir in chips or other combo of ingredients.
Lightly press into pan and bake for 18 to 22 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes then cut into bars. Let bars cool completely in pan before removing or serving.(That's a joke in my house...the kids have them eaten before they ever cool! )

Happy Mondays with Paul!
Wow!! What a weekend Girlies!! I have to say that I am super unorganized right now and I am going to blame that on my Roy...since he came home I have wanted to do nothing but spend time with him! I have let so many important housewifey things go that this week I will be one busy Momma! Anyway..I am praying that you all are more organized than your sister! So, I am oober excited to start on our new devotional on Paul! Let's get started shall we?
Genesis 17:1-11
When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him and said," I am God Almighty; walk before me and be blameless. I will confirm my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers. Abram fell facedown, and God said to him,"As for Me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations. No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you father of many nations. I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you. I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. The whole land of Canaan, where you are now an alien, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God." Then God said to Abraham, "As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised. You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between you and Me."
Reflection:
You may or may not come from a family line of Christian belief. But what value do you place on religious heritage? What do we give up by living only in the present?
What role do ceremony and tradition play in your family's life, especially your life of faith? How have you been blessed by keeping these spiritual markers over the years?
Pauls journey of faith:
Paul grew up in an orthodox Jewish home in a Gentile City. The Bible gives us only a few pieces of info about his upbringing, but based on these tidbits, we may draw a number of conclusions.
I like to imagine Paul as a little newborn baby boy...(drawing from Scripture and Jewish code of law)
Eight days had passed since his birth. Today would be his Berit Milah, an infant boys first initiation into Judaism. There is a small house full of people, the father, a Pharisee and Roman Citizen, was an impressive man. He was one of the few men in the community who seemed to command a certain amount of respect from both Jew and Gentile. When the family all arrives the ceremony begins. The father leans over the sandek (the Jewish Godfather) to oversee the circumcision of his beloved son. He then hands the knife to the mohel (the most expert circumcisor in Tarsus). Circumcision. The father could not help but smile as he competed with his wailing son for the attention of the quorum as the spoke the benediction, "Who hath sanctified us by His commandments and hath commanded us to bring him into the covenant of our father Abraham." With the exception of the sandek, all who gathered stood for the ceremony and responded to this benediction with the words,"Just as he has been initiated into the covenant, so may he be initiated in to the study of the Torah, to his nuptial (marriage)canopy, and to the performance of good deeds." The child laying on the sandek's lap was yet another piece of tangible evidence that God was faithful to a thousand generations. He cradled the child with a moments comfort and then handed him to his father, who's voice resonated throughout the candlelit home, "His name is Saul!!"
Girls...girls...girls...need I say more? This was such a powerful devotional for me...this little baby boy, a mere 8 days old...think of what he would do in his lifetime...

1 cup Flour
3/4 tsp. salt
4 tbls. cold butter
2 cups extra sharp chedder cheese
3 tbls. water
Blend all ingredients except cheese and then add cheese 1/2 cup at a time and add 1 tbls. of water at a time until it forms a chunky dough. Form into a ball and chill for at least an hour, roll out dough to 1/8 inch thickness and cut into squares or use little cookie cutters, be creative ladies!
Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Once cooled store in a plastic container. Mine never lasts long enough to put in containers! The kids lovem!!

Something happening
I feel something spiritual happing in my dorm and the Devil is fighting against us. I have prayed for so long for God to use me and show me why HE has put me here at Job Corps and tonight something happened and I just feel it is God moving and the Devil is trying to stop us. I ask for your prays for me to have the knowledge and wisdom to fight back and to make a difference and change the hearts of some of these young men. Solomon prayed for knowledge and wisdom and look what he got accomplished.

Happy Monday!
Happy Happy Monday Girls! I pray that you gals had a great weekend! The Hensley household was filled with challenges but overall I enjoyed my time with my kids and got a lot done over the weekend. I have ordered us a Beth Moore: 90 Days with Paul this morning. I think that you all will really enjoy it. Since there are 90 devotionals in there we will be able to spend at least a year on this study... Anyway, we will start that on Monday..I am so excited! I cannot wait!! But on with our devotional for today:
Luke 24:50-53
When He had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, He lifted up His hands and blessed them. While He was blessing them, He left them and was taken up into heaven. Then they worshiped Him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.
Reflections:
Try to put yourself on that hillside. See your Lord being carried up in glory. Feel your heart beating hard, not sure what to do next. What is it like? What are you thinking?
Let's think back on some experiences that we have had with Christ that should have been unforgetable but have somehow slipped from our memory. What do we need to remember about who He is and what He's done for us?
Thirty three years earlier, the little feet of our Savior Jesus, pit patted on this earth. Mary's young footprints following close behind His. I can't get this thought out of my mind. Throughout my day I am constantly chasing little feet. I wonder with all these babies that I care for. Which one will lead others to Christ. How many of them will grow up to be preachers, missionaries and more. I pray for these little ones all through my day and smile as I "imagine" their little ordinary lives becoming extraordinary. My ordinary life has been interrupted by His glory and I am so thankful for that today.
Jesus the One and Only...the title is His forever. He was the One and Only long before He breathed a soul into humanity, and He will continue to be the One and Only long after the last soul has been judged. He is changeless. But, ladies...we were destined for change! So determined is God to transform us, we cannot draw near Him and remain the same. May our tenure on this planet be characterized by one simple word....Jesus!

Frugal Friday!!
Hello Gals!! It's Friday!! Praising God for that today! It has been a long week and I am looking forward to sleeping in on Saturday...Well...Roy and I have been working on ways to save money by just "Trimming the fat" (Roys words...not mine) LOL! So...our biggest expense has been GROCERIES...imagine that...So I thought I would post a few recipes, household tricks and etc on Fridays...if you have some frugal ideas please postem! I have found that my biggest money "leaks" seem to be processed freezer foods, cakes, cookies and other snack items. I know that many of us don't seem to have time to make things from scratch to save money but I do one freezer day per month and I am able to stock my freezers with homemade items that cost dollars to make. The first month that I started frugal living our grocery bill was cut drastically! Even if you are not interested you can start with small things like I did in the beginning, I quit buying cookies for the kids and baked and froze them. I also quit buying cheez its and baked my own and froze them as well... I few dollars here and a few dollars there really start to add up...I will start by posting a recipe and add your own as we go!

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffiins
Makes approx. 30 muffins
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 (16 oz.) can of pumpkin
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups of vegetable oil ( YES..one and a quarter cup)
3 cups flour
2tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
12 oz. bag of semi sweet chocolate chips
In large mixing bowl, beat eggs, sugar, pumpkin, vanilla and oil until smooth. Mix dry ingredients together and mix into pumpkin mixture. Fold in chocolate chips. Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups about 3/4 full. Bake at 400 F for 16-20 minutes. Yummy!!

How Great thou art!!!!
How great is our Lord that he does allow us to go through some trials and tribulations in our lives. God knows I been through a few and I have grown alot. I got saved when I was young and yes I did get off the straight and narrow but God never left nor forsaked me(THANK GOD). He was with me every step I made and went throuh every trial and tribulation I went through and I WILL NEVER get off the straight and narrow again. I will continue to praise Him and glorify Him till the day I die. I will not rest till I see my husband saved. So girlies PRAY, that day will come.. I am so thankful to be a child of God and I will never stop thanking Him for what He has done for me in my life. Prayer works I am living proof of that.

Happy Monday!
Happy Monday my girlies!! I am a little behind schedule today! I really needed to spend some time with the Lord this morning and I am just now posting but well...I guess it is what it is...that is my new motto...I am what I am and it is what it is...as long as we are what we are in Him and seek His kingdom and His righteousness then all of those "other things" will be given unto us..right?...right! I won't be doing our devotional on the Beth Moore study today...God has led me in a different direction...this one is more for me than anyone else....so let's get started and see where we end up...K?
Deuteronomy 8:1-5
Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land that the Lord promised on oath to your forefathers. Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep His commands. He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell druing these forty years. Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.
Been in the wilderness lately? I heard someone say that there are some that NEVER get out. I don't want to be one of the Israelites that dies in the wilderness. It is so easy to get caught up in the world..to get lost in the: time vs. space and wants vs. needs and flesh vs. spirit...been there a long time...I am paying close attention to the verses that say, " Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep His commands." Have you all, like me, been humbled and tested? Were you as disgusted as I was of what was in your heart? I have been all of these things in the last week and I am choosing today, not to be disgusted anymore, I have found in God's Word that He has given me everything that I need to be able to get out of the wilderness and cross over into the promise land..however, don't misunderstand me, God tells us again that as we are enjoying the promise of our forefathers, we must follow these commands because on down in verse 19 God tells us that when we are in the promise land and we are enjoying the land of plenty, we MUST NOT forget the Lord our God, if we bow down to other gods (house, cars, money, etc) then we will surely be destroyed...I know in my heart that I love the Lord, I know in my heart that you ladies do too...but are we remembering God in all things? Let's decide today to go with God, not just on Sundays, on the phone with our Besties, or while we are visiting the sick and not just while we are on the phone with our Pastor!...let's remember God in ALL THINGS...if not, His Word says that we will be destroyed...I think if we are guilty of that, He may take us out of this world, or even worse, He may take us back to where we came from...before Him...that is a place that would be worse than death for me...can you imagine being in a place (spiritually) where you wouldn't hear God or feel His presence? BUT...I am thanking God today for His discipline! I was thinking of how that we discipline our own children, we do so with love, once the discipline has taken place, we go to our children and tell them that they are to obey us and when they don't they will be punished, then we will show them our forgiveness by giving them a hug or telling them we love them. God does us the same way girls, He looks into our mascara streaked eyes and tells us that He loves us, and we understand the discipline was needed (and deserved). I am so thankful to be His...Even more...I am so thankful to call Him mine...

Prayer Request
Joanne and Toben's girls will be starting school today. Let's lift them up in prayer ladies. It was just 8 days ago that their Mom had her stroke. I seen that they are waiting for some of her levels to stabilize so that they can begin to take her off of the paralytic drugs. I can't imagine the emotions they have had to endure over the last week. It is so awesome to be able to share this with you gals! Praying for you all today as well. Have a blessed day!

Jesus and Beelzebub
Luke 11:14-23
Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. When the demon left, the man who had been mute spoke and the crowd was amazed. But some of them said,"By Beelzebub, the prince of demons, he is driving out demons!" Others tested Him by asking for a sign from heaven. Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them,"Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall. If Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand? I say this because you say that I drive out demons by Beelzebub. Now if I drive out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your followers drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you. When a strong man fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man trusted and divides up the spoils.
What has Satan stolen from you?
What have you lost along the way that you know the Lord will one day reclaim for you?
What are some of the "Weapons" Satan has trusted in as he's battled against you?
How could you use this knowledge to shield yourself from his attacks?
Let's look at 3 things here:
1) Satan may be strong, but Christ is "stronger".
2) Christ will attack and overcome Satan.
3)Our someone stronger is going to take away Satan's armor and divide up the spoils.
We have all had situations that Satan has stolen many things from us, we have the comfort of knowing that it won't last. There will come a time when God will give us double for our trouble. I am in prayer for a family right now that is feeling the effects of war from a Satanic attack. We have all been here...I am so thankful that we are all working on our Bible in 90 days, we need the Word of God, it is our armor to be able to defeat the enemy. As long as we are here on this earth we will be in a battle. How prepared for battle are we ladies? Let's not let Satan get the upper hand and be able to defeat us simply because we are not prepared...Let's stand strong, stay in the Word, keep His Words in our hearts and FIGHT!

Our Gracious and Heavenly Father, We are so thankful for your living Word today Lord, we ask Father that you give us the power to read every Word and be able to brand our hearts with it. Help us to be armed for battle Father. Lord I ask that your mighty hand will reach into Joanne's hospital room and heal her Lord, she is in a battle that she cannot win on her own. Help her Lord, heal her Father so that she can go back home to her loved ones and continue to fight the good fight. In Jesus Holy Precious Name We Pray...AMEN

I have a blogging Momma that needs our prayers. I don't know her personally, only by blog, but she is our Sister in Christ and she desperately needs our prayers. Her name is Joanne and she has suffered a massive stroke. She has a blog called The Simple Wife and if you follow this link you can read all about her...http://thesimplewife.typepad.com/the_simple_wife/ I am asking that you gals get on this as soon as possible. One of our ladies in this very prayer group as you all know had the same type of stroke and by the grace of God, He saved her life, Tara is a walking, talking, witnessing MIRACLE. I love her so much and can't imagine my life without her, I know that Joanne's husband Toben feels the exact same way about her and is believing that God will heal her. Please girls, fill your days with prayer for her. I just read Toben's last post and with desperation he is asking we pray for her brain to stop swelling. Thanks Ladies!

Mighty God
I have been ready my 90 day bible and I do have to admit I am a few days ahead of schedule. I can not seem to put it down ( I am addicted). Our Gos is so Mighty and He is a jealous God. I am just at awe when I read how God was so or how can i put it He wanted things done to perfection when it came to serving and worshiping Him. More people need to fear our God because He is sooooo mighty and great. I love him I love Him and I love Him. I sometimes wonder " WHO AM I?" that God has alowed me to be here on this earth. Hebrews 10:32-39
Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. So do not throw away your confidence it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised. For in a very little while,"He who is coming will come and not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith. And if He shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him. But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.
So many times we are "going through something" and we look up to the heavens and say, "How much longer? How much more can happen?" I love the book of Hebrews! There is so much in there for those of us that are going through something! I am so guilty of (as Pastor Mike says) going to the phone and not the throne when something "else"happens. There are so many something happenings going on in our families right now. But Ladies, I have learned that is just livin' life...I say it to myself daily and sometimes hourly, Lord, hang on to me, I am really livin' life right now!
In verse 38 it says, "But my righteous one will live by faith."
Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
As we read on down throughout the 11th chapter we see, By faith Abel, By faith Enoch, By faith Noah, By faith Abraham, By faith Isaac, By faith Joseph, By faith Moses, By faith the people passed through the Red Sea, By faith the walls of Jericho fell, By faith the prostitute Rahab, and By faith Shana, and By faith Sandy, and By faith Tara, and By faith Lori, and By faith Wendy, and By faith Teresa, then it says and what more shall I say?
So, gals, what can I say? Stand strong, have faith, persevere, don't shrink back! Praying for you today!
A prayer for you all today:
Our Heavenly Father, I love you Lord and I am so thankful to get up today to fight the good fight with these ladies in this group. I ask Lord that you raise us up today out of our mudpits and give us the faith to walk on mud with You! Help us Lord to be the wives, mothers, daughters, and Sisters that You would have us to be and I pray Lord that we won't get weary in our race and we will finish strong just as You have commanded. Help us Lord, to bear one another's burdens and do so with compassion and pure hearts. We love you so much Father and ask you for forgiveness of our sins and trespasses. In Jesus name we pray...AMEN!

Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. So do not throw away your confidence it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised. For in a very little while,"He who is coming will come and not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith. And if He shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him. But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.
So many times we are "going through something" and we look up to the heavens and say, "How much longer? How much more can happen?" I love the book of Hebrews! There is so much in there for those of us that are going through something! I am so guilty of (as Pastor Mike says) going to the phone and not the throne when something "else"happens. There are so many something happenings going on in our families right now. But Ladies, I have learned that is just livin' life...I say it to myself daily and sometimes hourly, Lord, hang on to me, I am really livin' life right now!
In verse 38 it says, "But my righteous one will live by faith."
Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
As we read on down throughout the 11th chapter we see, By faith Abel, By faith Enoch, By faith Noah, By faith Abraham, By faith Isaac, By faith Joseph, By faith Moses, By faith the people passed through the Red Sea, By faith the walls of Jericho fell, By faith the prostitute Rahab, and By faith Shana, and By faith Sandy, and By faith Tara, and By faith Lori, and By faith Wendy, and By faith Teresa, then it says and what more shall I say?
So, gals, what can I say? Stand strong, have faith, persevere, don't shrink back! Praying for you today!
A prayer for you all today:
Our Heavenly Father, I love you Lord and I am so thankful to get up today to fight the good fight with these ladies in this group. I ask Lord that you raise us up today out of our mudpits and give us the faith to walk on mud with You! Help us Lord to be the wives, mothers, daughters, and Sisters that You would have us to be and I pray Lord that we won't get weary in our race and we will finish strong just as You have commanded. Help us Lord, to bear one another's burdens and do so with compassion and pure hearts. We love you so much Father and ask you for forgiveness of our sins and trespasses. In Jesus name we pray...AMEN!

GOOD MORNING
Sorry for not being on here for a couple of days. I have been off work and as you know I have no computer at home. Sandy I know how you feel about company just popping in. I once was told to always expect company so keep things clean but I fall short when it comes to this and I just have TWO kids and a husband. Since I had a stroke I really dont mind it much that is just material things and I care more about eternal things. I just got paged over the intercom so GOOD MORNING and I gotta go picke up some students in Lexington and then go to Louisville airport and get students from airport.PRAY PRAY PRAY for me!!!!!!

Intentional hospitality.....
Chad recently shared this sermon from John Piper with me. I really fall so very short here. I have to say that I really do enjoy having having people over. We enjoy entertaining, we love to cook and eat! But these are planned events and on my terms. Who am I to have terms? I don't do well when people just happen to stop by. Just being honest here. It seems that for the most part my house is usually clean. Unless someone just stops by. And then it seems that it's a mess. But who cares? I know that I shouldn't but I do. It kind of goes back to that curtain thing, you know, if it looks good on the outside you don't have to deal with what's lurking behind that curtain. Why should I care what others think? I do have 6 kids at home all day;) But still I struggle here. My grandmother, Mamaw Maude was different - very. She truly lived a life of intentional hospitality. And again I fall short. I think I get my desire to have a clean house from her, hers was always clean. I mean she even bleached her coffee cups. She always had some type of cake sitting on the counter. "Mamaw why do you always have cake?" And her answer was simply, "someone might be hungry."Mamaw, why do you cook so much?" And again, "someone might be hungry". And I always knew that she meant someone other than family and friends. She meant anyone that might indeed be hungry. And I remember several times people that I didn't know stopping by, simply because they were hungry. Mamaw always carried cash, she also carried cash that Papaw didn't know about. She referred to this stash as love notes. But that's another story. "Mamaw, why do you always have so much money?" Her answer,"someone might need it." "Mamaw, why do you have so many sheets and towels?" Her answer, "someone might need a place to stay." And stay they did, people I didn't know, they stayed, they ate, they were warm and clothed, they had a little spending money before they left, and most importantly of all they learned of Christ. Sermons, you can listen on line or if you've been blessed as I have you can remember seeing them lived out. What have I done with both? Not much.......

January Memory Verses
Hello Girlies! Hope your day has started off in prayer and reading the Word of God! I am in day 4 of the Read the Bible in 90 days and I just finished the Book of Genesis. Although we are covering alot in a short amount of time, I am learning so much! I am continuing to read a Proverb a day as most of you all are as well. Just a few months ago I was in prayer that God would show me a way to really dig into His word and be able to remember His Words in my heart so that I will be able to apply them to my life and my prayers have most definitely been answered by the studies that we are in. So, we are all working on memorizing 2 verses of Scripture per month for the next year, we are all working on our own verses so that we can apply them specifically to our lives at the moment.
Galatians 6:2
Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the Law of Christ.
Philippians 1:6
Being confident of this very thing, that He which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

1st Happy Monday of 2011!
I love a New Year! I like the feeling of starting over...Roy and I set yearly goals and it is such a feeling of accomplishment to meet those goals and on occasion we get to bask in the joy of going beyond our goals. This is one of those years, we set a goal it was a personal goal that I prefer to keep silent but we went above the goal we had set and it was nice to celebrate that with him. I am especially excited about our Bible Study on Tuesday, I do have a little something that I would like to share with you Gals, anytime that I experience the power of God I like to "share". Speaking of the power of God, let's get started on our 1st Happy Monday Devotional of 2011!
Luke 8:42-48
(Paraphrased)
Jesus was on His way to the house of Jairus to see his 12 year old daughter that lay dying. As He went the crowd was thronging Him, in the crowd was a woman having an issue of blood 12 years, she had spent everything she had on physicians still had not been healed. Coming up behind Jesus she touched the hem of His garment and immediately her issue of blood stopped. And Jesus said, " Who touched me?". When all denied, Peter and they that were with Him said, "Master, the crowd throngs You and presses You, and You say, who touched me?" And Jesus said,"Somebody has touched me, for I perceive that virtue has gone out of me." And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling , and fell down before Him, she declared to Him before all the people, the reason that she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.
Oh my, I love to read these scriptures! Do we realize how "LIVING", "ALIVE" & "POWERFUL" that the Word of God is? Do we realize what a privilege that it is to own one? I have Bibles of all versions and shapes and sizes. What a blessing to be able to freely have in my possession so many! What a blessing to be able to say that without fear and trembling. We see here in these scriptures that Jesus was being pressed in the crowds, I can imagine Him in a sea of people being pushed along, then all of the sudden He felt virtue leave from Him. The definition of virtue is effective force or power. All that the woman did was touch the hem of His garment. We see how a small, simple act of faith, healed her of a 12 year issue of blood! I don't know about you gals but I got so excited for her when I read that, I got so excited for me when I read that, I am so excited for you all after reading that! What are we waiting for?!? Why are we lying in our beds worrying about our lives and the "issues" that we are going through? I have "issues" just like the woman with the 12 year one! Why are our "issues" any different? Do you think that you have to be pressed in the crowd chasing the hem of His garment to be healed? I think that we have lost faith in His power because we are separated from what He did in this scripture by time, death and Resurrection. He is just as real today as He was when His precious feet walked on the same ground that we do. Listen to this my Ladyfriends...He has more than enough power to fix my "issues" right now, even while He is fixing yours! He has more than enough to go around! One is no more important than the other. I have a project for you gals! In private, let's do a list, identify your greatest needs, I want you to list them ALL...then let's take them to the throne and lay them at His feet. He is more than enough to give us what we need. If He does not grant us what we ask for in faith, it is never because He lacks the power. I believe it's because He wants to reveal Himself through another answer, all the while revealing an even greater glory. So, will we laugh like the mourners outside of Jairus' home or will we go inside and get to see a miracle unfold? (verses 49-56)

Behind the curtain.....
I think that I have a pretty home, a very nice addition was made to the old house. But behind that addition still remains a very old house. A few rooms of the old house have been redone, a few haven't. The little old bathroom was one of those. It was just ugly (very). But after several coats of paint it's not that bad. I walked past it the other day and thought it looked pretty good. That is until you look behind the shower curtain. There's a pink bathtub, caulking gone WRONG, too many coats of paint to count, one area that doesn't have anything, the faucet has even been painted - it's an UGLY place back there. And then I realized, I'm just like that bathroom. I've tried for years to cover up the ugliness of sin in my life, in my heart. It hasn't been a pretty place. But no matter what I tried to do it still remained. I still struggle sometimes believing that a Holy and Righteous God can and will forgive me. But He has done exactly that! I just had to lay it all at the foot of the Cross and let the Blood of Christ wash me clean! I don't have to hide behind that curtain of shame and guilt. I'm seen through the veil of Blood that covers me. Praise be to God! I want to live a life of authenticity. I'm tired of hiding behind a curtain. So I've started using this little bathroom more often and you know what? It serves it's purpose just as well as the other one. And so it is with us. We can serve God regardless of what we've been hiding behind the curtain.......

Happy Monday!
Happy Monday Gals! It is hard to believe that another year is almost over...this is the last Happy Monday Devotional Post I will do in 2010. I am excited for a new year, I love new beginnings. I am not one of those people that do New Year Resolutions, I used to be, but it just didn't stick with me. I would start out with the best of intentions and by the next week I was full of reasons to not continue. However, I did read something somewhere saying that anything you do consistently for 3 weeks will cause you to form a habit, so I am going to do a read the Bible in 90 days with Tara and hopefully that will help me to form good study habits. I love to read the Bible but I don't have a good system for study. So, I am praying about that and if any of you gals have any tips for me, please, send me some. I need em! Anyway, let's do our last Happy Monday Devotional of 2010....
Luke 1:39-44
At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah's home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice, she exclaimed: Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.
Ok...let's look at something here...you have two women, one too young and one too old...they are both expecting and very much in need of each others friendship right now. Elizabeth and Mary both had questionable pregnancies and both of them had to have been feeling so many different emotions, they needed each other, they needed to be with one another so they could bear each others burdens so to speak. I want you to see the relationship they have here. You normally don't see a teenage girl running to an elderly woman seeking out that kind of friendship. But you do here. It is evident that these relationships are necessary. This was a relationship that was Christ arranged and I know that my relationship with you ladies is Christ arranged also. I know that none of us are up in age and pregnant and none of us are carrying our Lord and Savior but we are all running the same race together with the same goal. God has given you ladies to me so that I can share my joys and my heartaches. I can be standing with my back turned to you all and I can hear your voice and immediately recognize which of you is speaking. I like to list the things that are most special to me at the end of every year and you all are at the top of my list. We all have our "Treasures" and you are definitely mine. Thank you for being my friends and thank you for loving me. I get tickled when Sandy says, "You love me because God makes you love me!" But please know that I love you because you are special to me, and I prayed for you, I prayed for you and the relationships that I have with you. We are Women of Galatians 6:2!
I love you my ladyfriends! I hope that we will still be doing this when 2012 rolls around!

Merry Christmas!!
Merry Christmas Ladies! I hope you all have had a good morning so far. I sure have! My kiddos got us up at 4:30 am! They were so excited when they woke up to a living room full of gifts and stockings overflowing with goodies! I love to spoil them like this! It is just such a good feeling to see them smiling and thanking you for giving them gifts. I am overwhelmed at how thankful they are today! (Tears) I will go ahead and put us over the 500 thankfuls this morning and I am so glad that we met our goal! Yay!!! Well, I better wrap this up, my girls are wanting me to go play! Can't pass up an opportunity like that!

GOD IS SO GOOD

Welcome to Happy Monday!!
I just wanted to welcome Teresa to our Prayer Group and I am so excited to get to know another Sister in Christ! We go to church on Sundays and we have our Sunday School lessons, and fellowship and Sunday Sermon, but how many of the ladies do we "really" know? We listen to their prayer requests and have our small talk but we really don't know them. So...when I was told that Teresa was starting in our group, I was oober excited (that's goes out to you Sandy) and so thankful that she accepted the invitation. One more prayer warrior for the group! So anyway, I just wanted to say WELCOME TERESA!!! Sending ((HUGS)) and prayers your way. I hope that your relationship with Christ will be strengthened like mine by being a part of the lives of these amazing, strong and hilarious women. Happy Monday!
I am still laughing about our Christmas Play last night! Of course if any of the kids will act up in a Christmas Play it is gonna be MINE! I still can't figure out how that Jacob broke out of that chicken coup....lol...anyway it was wonderful, stressful and hilarious to see! Our Abbi though...she has such a fear of being in the public (like I am)...she so much enjoys practicing sign language and plays but when it comes time to get in front of a crowd she just freezes up and cries...but I have to say that she is improving...she did say her lines and she made it through it. If I could just get her to see what she did I could help her maybe. Anyway...I hope that you all enjoyed it! What was your favorite part of the play? I just loved seeing Noah up there so quiet like he was loving having a side seat to the play and I always catch myself holding my breath when I see Hailey stepping up and saying her lines. It was precious..

What does it look like when it happens?
When you hold compassion back, when you pass by and don't stop to help, what are your reasons for doing so?
I don't always have compassion like I should and I am curious as to why..I know that I let my busyness with work and home consume me and I have repented of that, I am in prayer that God will show me all the areas that I need to have more compassion in.
I would have loved to have been there and watched as the men carried that young man out in a coffin, I can hear the crying and moaning of the widowed mother who had lost her only son and bearing this grief alone, with no husband to share it with. I can imagine Jesus, stopping and shushing the crowd behind Him so that they would know something was up ahead.
I know that when I am with someone who is grieving, I want to tell them, " Don't cry." My heart breaks and I just want them to stop crying, I don't want them to have a broken heart and I want to see them smile and laugh again.
I can imagine Jesus walking up to the coffin and the mother raising her eyes to Him and knowing He is someone but not knowing who or what He is going to do. The men that carried him stood still...I bet they all did...the mother, the town that was supporting her, the disciples and the people that were following Him. As I read it, I stood still too..they not only physically stood still but mentally they stood still...have you ever watched something and stood still in your mind?
As the men carrying the stretcher stood still, Jesus touches the coffin and tells him,"Arise." The Bibles that I am looking at don't have exclamation points after arise, so I don't know if He said it with a raised voice or if He said it softly but I am sure that it was HEARD loudly regardless. I know that mother had to have just been overwhelmed with what she saw and to be able to hold her son in her arms again alive just overwhelms me to the point of tears. I can't imagine losing a son, and I can't imagine watching the Lord in the flesh, bring him back. I bet she, the crowd, the men holding the coffin and the disciples laughed and wept all at the same time...I know I did
Compassion...from now on...I will remember what I have read...

Needing to get a blog off my chest!
Hello Gals! Hope your Wednesday is finding you enjoying yet another snow day! I am enjoying the day today...all thanks for that to my precious Lord! I have to tell you ladies how the last 3 days have been for me...I have been a little under the weather physically and spiritually. It was a needed place for me to be though. I ALWAYS learn something from being sick spiritually whether I want to or not. I think that there are levels to being spiritually sick. I think that some of us have a spiritual cancer, one that will likely kill you if you let it go untreated, ranging all the way down to a spiritual cold. I had a spiritual flu/cold...one is just as severe as the other so I used a / until I figure out which....I was having my emotional breakdown yesterday and had to call on one of you ladies to bare my burden with me...(Galatians 6) I know exactly why that I picked up that phone and called her, I WAS DESPERATE, and found myself for split second trying to mask why that I had really called, but thankfully she knows me well enough to know when something is wrong, anyway...to make a long story short, as you all know my Mom had surgery today, my Aunt is sick, and finals are this week. SO~ needless to say your Sister was STRESSIN!! And I am being polite when I use CAPS here! But....she knew just who we needed to go to, immediately before I went any further on my breakdown, we went to the Throne, God was there and since then my world is right again. I know that I am an Internet and texting addict but why, God why don't you carry a cell phone or have the internet up there??? (JUST KIDDING) Thankfully we can go to Him at any hour and He is there above and beyond Mountain Telephone Internet and Verizon Wireless..lol....but anyway...I was enjoying my day today and it hit me (sin) like a derailed train what I had done on the phone yesterday...I am prideful...probably the most prideful person that I know...as I was breaking down yesterday and my dear Sister was talking me off of my spiritual ledge I said to her, " I am so sorry, I don't want you to think that I can't handle this, I am so embarrased that I called with all of this, how can I help anyone else if I can't help myself?"Can you say drama 101...that was my pride and for that I have repented and I have learned that I am not exempt because I feel like Sister Christian sometimes....I can't imagine how that sounded...really tryin' not to. But it brings me back to Galatians 6:3, For if a man (or Shana) thinks himself (or herself) to be something, when he (she) is nothing, he (she) decieves himself (herself)..hmmm....who do you all have on a pedestal today? You? A friend? I am so thankful that he didn't rapture me outta here yesterday, I would have been the fish he threw back in...I love you girls....and thank you to my sweet Sista yesterday that walked on mud to get to me and pull me outta my pit!! Chillin' out today and enjoying sanity...hope you all are too! PEACE (again, I have two fingers raised)

Happy Monday!
Happy Monday Ladies! I hope this finds you safe and warm! I woke up to a blanket of snow on the ground and did not want to get up this morning. I have been battling a cold and body aches and I just wanted to curl back up and sleep for a couple more hours. But, work to do and babies to take care of, I have some housework to catch up on and this is FINALS week. Classes are over for a month come Friday! Yay!!! I need the break! Let's get started on our devotional....
Mark 1:35-39
(Paraphrased)
Now in the morning having risen long before daylight, He went out to a solitary place and there He prayed. And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him. When they found Him they told Him, "Everyone is looking for you!" But He responded to them, "Let's go into the next towns so that I can preach there also,because for this purpose I have come forth." And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee and casting out demons.
Is there a certain time of day when you find your time with the Lord particularly sweet and tangible? Describe what makes it that way...
What thoughts or activities interrupt your ability to escape the way Jesus did, intent on spending time with the Father, desiring Him more than anything else?
I have to say that 5:30am is the best time of the day for me to spend time with God. All the kids are still in bed and Roy is sleeping most of the time. I love to get up and have a cup of coffee, grab my Bible and start my day with the Lord. There are times though that my time is cut short by babies needing me, early phone calls and sometimes I am just plain ole distracted. I am distracted today, the snow has me on edge, I know that I will have little ones bundled up in snow suits and car seats making their way to MiMi's House today. I will type a little and pray a little. I am also in prayer today for a dear Aunt of mine, she has just been diagnosed with COPD and my heart just breaks when I think of her spiritual condition. One of my Sister's is dealing with a situation and needing God to give her some direction as to what she should do. My heart is heavy today and I have alot to pray about. I wonder if Jesus felt that way, I can't imagine how the human flesh inprisoned Him. How that His disciples distracted Him from His Father with to meet their needs and the needs of others. Did we think about Jesus' needs at that time? Were the disciples sensitive to Him when He spent an entire day out there healing the sick and diseased? Did they send someone to wash His clothes for Him or fix Him a meal when He had walked in the heat all day and just wanted to have a bath and dinner and go to bed early to pray for a while? He must have felt like He was governed by the natural laws of the human body like we are...right? I am sorry to cut this short, but I have lots to pray about this morning and while the distractions are few I'd like to take this time to spend it with Him while I can!

Happy Monday!
Oh my...I really do not feel like this is a Happy Monday...yesterday has left my Joy bruised. Asking you all to be in prayer for the person/people that took our things yesterday, they were only things and for that I am thankful, but asking you all to pray for them. On with our devotional for the day!
Mark 1:29-34~
(Paraphrased)
After leaving the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. Simon's mother-in-law was sick with a fever and they told Him about her at once. So, He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up healing her at once. After the sun had set that evening they brought to Him all that were sick and demon posessed. The whole city was gathered together at the door. He healed many that were sick and cast out many demons; He did not allow the demons to speak for they knew Him.
How present is Jesus in the everyday routine of your household? How much of your relationship with Him takes place within your home and within the interaction of your family?
What would it be like if meeting with Jesus always required going to another place, leaving our homes to go out looking for Him?
My goodness, this devotional hits close to home for me! Ladies...I am overwhelmed by how I leave Jesus at the doors of Grace Baptist Church as I make my way back home. I have heard my Sunday School Teacher tell our class many times that he will walk in the door and immediately feel the presence of God but as he leaves he instantly feels that he has left Him in the Church. I have done that! Have we left Jesus at Grace today? Do you feel and see Jesus in your house today? Did you see Him or talk to Him when you woke up this morning ? While you were making your coffee? Getting prepared for your day? Or, were you like me and jumped up to take on the hustle and bustle of Monday morning? We need to put Him first. In ALL things. Not just in our Sunday Morning services or in the Wednesday night services. I am striving to take Jesus with me throughout my day today and everyday. He said in Genesis 2:18 It is not good that man should be alone; I will make a him a helpmate for him. Just as we need our husbands or our children Gals; can you imagine going through your day without your husband or your babies? Can you imagine them being there only when you want them for something or in times of despair but not having them there any other time? Me either! We do our precious Lord and Savior that way too! How abusive we are...I am asking you all to join me in loving Him today and everyday, take Him with you throughout your day, just like we would our husbands or our children...talk to Him and praise Him, thank Him for His goodness! I am praying for you Girlies today! I will take you all with me throughout my day today, lifting you up in prayer! We will all parade around my house following Jesus while I go through the hustle and bustle of Happy Monday! Love you Ladies! Through and Through!

He Rides Upon the Heaven December 3, 2010 "There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun, who rideth upon the heaven in thy help, and in his excellency on the sky." (Deuteronomy 33:26) Chapter 33 of Deuteronomy contains the last recorded words of a truly great man, Moses, "whom the LORD knew face to face" (34:10). Many times Moses had addressed the people of Israel with mixed blessing and warning, listing conditions for blessing and the inevitable results of rejecting God's plan. But here, as he prepared for his impending death (32:48-52), Moses spoke only of God's majestic character and the privileges of those who serve Him. The God of Jeshurun (literally "upright," here a symbolic name for Israel) is an active God, for He rides in His excellency across the heaven to help us, as we see in our text. He strongly acts on our behalf. "The eternal God is |our| refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms" (33:27). He is not like the gods of the heathen, who do nothing. Next, He is a God of grandeur. Here He rides across the sky and the heaven; elsewhere we are told that He "rideth upon the heavens of heavens" (Psalm 68:33). He walks (104:3) and flies (18:10) "upon the wings of the wind." "The LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet" (Nahum 1:3). Finally, God is eternal. The "eternal God" with "everlasting arms" (Deuteronomy 33:27) assures us of eternal victory. "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death" (Revelation 1:18). Such was Moses' God and the God whom we serve today--the One who showers us with incomparable blessings. Indeed, "who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD" (Deuteronomy 33:29) to have such a One as our God? JDM |

Thankful Thursday!
I hope this morning finds you well. It was good to have Mike and Debbie back last night, it's just not the same without them. Please remember Debbie in your prayers. In case you hadn't heard, her aunt passed away. She said she was like a second mom to her. It's always hard to say goodbye.

Happy December!
Hope you like the new look. I really can't believe that December is already here! Hope you all are out of harms way where the water is concerned. Our bridge is flooded (as usual!) and the bottoms are full of puddles but not the river that we usually have! Just so you know, you are in my morning prayers everyday and throughout the day. Praying that we all grow closer to Christ today.
